Watermelon Lemonade

by Megan on July 2, 2009

Trying to beat the summer heat?
How about some Watermelon lemonade!
It had been requested several times in this last week so I know it’s a hit with the kids.
And just in time for the holiday weekend!
Easy ingredients!
Let me explain the watermelon juice.
You can make your own instead of buying it.
Since it had only been 2 weeks since my surgery, I couldn’t lift a watermelon to make my own juice, so I resorted to buying it. If you put cut pieces in the food processor or blender, and give it a few pulses, you can strain the the pulp out and waa-laa, watermelon juice!

I also made cute little dolphin ice cubes with blueberries frozen in them. The kids loved these and I’m going to do the same thing, only with a star ice cube tray for the 4th of July!
Too cute!

Can you see the blue dolphin swimming?
Look closer!

Want a grown up version?
A little spirit and kick?

Add some Smirnoff watermelon vodka!
That will liven up the party. :)

You are too much fun! I love the dolphin ice cubes; I've never seen them before, or stars either. Just the old squares, ho hum.

The watermelon lemonade sounds refreshing. I would love to make this for the grands, with the dolphin ice cubes, of course!

Hi Megan,

This watermelon lemonade looks positively refreshing. I only wish the weather around me would cooperate (cloudy, threatening rain). Either way, it is the perfect summery drink.

I'm not sure if I've left you a message before, but I just want to let you know about TasteStopping, which is my new site that publishes food photos that have been rejected from FoodGawker and Tastespotting. It really takes the sting out of those rejections! I hope you'll come by to check it out and consider submitting.

Best,

The watermelon juice is a great idea! It'll be fun to see how many ways I can use it. :-) Enjoy your 4th.

My one twin Jalen would probably love this as he's a fiend for watermelon!

Hope you're well on the road to mending!

Happy 4th!

Very nice. I have also never seen watermelon juice. Cool alternative when short on time.

Wooohoooo! Hot day today (AGAIN) and this was the perfect treat for MM, me and our youngest daughter and her hubby that dropped by! Absolutely delicious! I loved the way that the watermelon added dimension, but didn’t overpower the lemons! I used 10 fresh lemons so I had to add about 1 cup of sugar. Still left it just right “tart” and so refreshing!
