My daughter got a new car today.
Well… it’s new to her. She got a cute little 2002 Volkswagen Bug with all the bells and whistles and it fits her perfectly. The bonus? I get my car back!
She’s been taking my car to school now for a while, because I got too lazy to take her ever single day.
Every. Single. Day.
S0 tonight, a celebratory dinner was in order! I made a teriyaki meatloaf (recipe to soon follow), roasted red potatoes, and butternut squash. And for dessert, a Chocolate Tart!
The assignment for this edition of Tuesday With Dorie, was the Chocolate Truffle Tart. This recipe can be found on page 382 of the cookbook Baking With Julia , or at our hosting blogs listed below. But trust me, with only two recipes under my belt from this book, White Loaves and now this Chocolate Truffle Tart, I can highly recommend this cookbook.
This recipe was a little more involved then just throwing some ingredients in the bowl. It was not hard at all, just a few more steps. You start out with a buttery chocolate crust that came together really easy in the food processor. After a brief chill in the refrigerator, you roll it out and put it in the tart pan. I made three 4 inch round tarts and one 12×4 inch tart. The recipe said even the most seasoned bakers have a hard time rolling out this dough without any tears, but it just pinches back together easily. After a quick bake in the oven, no one would be the wiser that you had any kind of problem with the dough! I thought it was a great crust. Not to sweet, perfect for this rich filling.
The filling. The glorious filling. How can one go wrong with dark chocolate and butter and egg yolks? Throw in some chopped milk chocolate, white chocolate, and biscotti chunks and you have magic. Bake it for another 10 minutes till set, and you have a glorious Chocolate Truffle Tart that is sure to impress.

Yum! That last picture of the piece with ice cream looks de-lish! I’m glad I cut the recipe to 1/4 or I’d have eaten way too much of this. Loved it!
And that Bug does look like a great car!
Your tart looks great! Wish I’d had a scoop of ice cream to go with mine… I went into total chocolate coma just two bites in.
Your tart looks great.
Yum! I’m a chocoholic so this tart looks fantastic!
The bug is so cute; I’m sure your daughter is happy too that she doesn’t have to drive your car anymore.
Congrats to your daughter on her new car, this chocolate tart is a great way to celebrate!
Wow, you got 3 minis and a long tart out of the dough recipe! Somehow my full dough recipe only fit into my long rectangular pan. Hmmm. Need to work on my dough-rolling skills. They look delicious! Thanks for baking along with me this week.
Oooh…I like the rectangular tart pan you’ve got there…
