Broccoli Casserole Recipe

by Megan on November 4, 2009

I have the perfect recipe that would be an excellent side dish  for Thanksgiving or Christmas! Six ingredients is all it takes!

Broccoli Casserole!

brocooli, bread, applesauce 207

I’ve been making this recipe for over  32 years and can honestly say, it’s one of my very favorites. I was given this recipe from an old boyfriend’s sister. I don’t remember names anymore, but I can remember this Broccoli Casserole Recipe by heart.

Six easy ingredients is all it takes.

Just cook your broccoli and chop it up, then add the other 5 ingredients. Throw it in a pretty casserole dish and bake it till it’s brown and bubbly.

In the original directions, there was a cracker crumb sprinkled on top. I don’t usually do that.

I did it this time because I have been hooked on homemade bread crumbs and thought I would give them a try on this.

Ohhh!, after thought! What about trying French Fried Onions on top? This could/should/would replace that green bean casserole!

Makes for a pretty presentation but I’m back to the plain top. I don’t think it needs anything else, but you be the judge.

Now I’m not a gambling kind of girl, but I bet you could mix it up in the crockpot earlier in the day and cook it slow and low till it’s brown and bubbly. That way it would free up the oven for that turkey and those pies! :)

I made little individual ones here but I usually just make one big  casserole. I serve it family style, with love and thanksgiving! Hope you enjoy!

Broccoli Casserole

  • 1 bunch broccoli, cooked and chopped
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 Can Cream of Mushroom Soup
  • 1 cup mayonnaise

  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  1. Mix all ingredients in a bowl (or crockpot).
  2. Place into a lovely dish.
  3. Bake at 375, till brown and bubbly!
  4. Enjoy!

I love broccoli casserole. My mom makes it with ritz cracker crumbs on top. I agree with you, it doesn't need the crumbs but either way it is great in my book :D

We've been loving broccoli casserole for years too! Usually with french fried onions and sour cream instead of mayo. Love the individual dishes!

We make this every holiday too. Usually with Velvetta and we don't use breadcrumbs. I think I might add them next time – looks delicious!

I've been looking for a recipe like this for the holidays, it sounds delicious. Your directions say a "bunch" of broccoli. How many pounds are you talking here (per can of mushroom soup)?

Yum! You could totally go with light mayo, 2% Kraft cheese(it's good!), and 98% ff soup and lighten this up, too! The casserole sounds great!

i love that you did these in individual dishes!!! totally makes it 100 times cooler that way :)

I love broccoli casseroles! I don't like broccoli all on its own but when you smother it and bake it then I'm all over it!

These look delicious! I also love that you have prepared individual casseroles. That's such a nice way to serve things.

This looks great! We love broccoli at our house. My mom has a broccoli casserole recipe she found recently that I haven't gotten to try yet, but I"ll have to compare it to this one.

I immediately made this casserole. Like got up from the chair, and told DH I need to make this RIGHT NOW. LOL I used about 20 ounces frozen broccoli cuts (I'll use florets next time) and doubled the cheese….and I am not ashamed to say that I ate the ENTIRE thing to my pregnant self over the course of 2 days. Thanks!!

Had my parents over for dinner tonight and tried this along with an herb-stuffed pork loin. My dad, always skeptical of new recipes, could not stop saying how much he liked this. Three-helpings later he told Mom she needed to get this recipe too! Great dish!

Made this recipe for supper. Wasnt a fan of it. I thought it tasted too mayo so i wish I would have scrolled on down to read the review about omitting the mayo and adding sour cream instead, Not sure if I’ll attempt it again.
